  16. IPT Releases "Partner": Provides AppleTalk Networking for NEXTSTEP

  18. San Luis Obispo, Calif. - April 26, 1993, Information Presentation
  19. Technologies, Inc. (IPT), a leading manufacturer of Macintosh-to-UNIX
  20. connectivity software, has officially released its Partner series of products
  21. for NEXTSTEP systems.  Partner provides NEXTSTEP users with AppleTalk client
  22. support and AppleShare server support.

  24. IPT's Partner offers additional options not available with NeXT's AppleTalk
  25. client software, including bi-directional file-sharing, bi-directional
  26. printing, print spooling, print queue management, icon binding/mapping and
  27. electronic mail.

  29. "Partner provides seamless interoperability between Macintosh computers and
  30. NEXTSTEP systems, including both NeXT's 68040-based workstations and Intel-
  31. based PCs that will run NEXTSTEP for Intel processors" said Jon Simonds,
  32. president of IPT.

  34. "NeXT's connectivity strategy is to focus on making NEXTSTEP the leading
  35. object-oriented software for developing and deploying client/server
  36. applications. We want to provide a framework upon which specialized experts
  37. can base their solutions," said Brett Bachman, director of product marketing
  38. at NeXT.  "IPT is an ideal example of this strategy in action.  As a leading
  39. AppleTalk-to-UNIX networking vendor, IPT is well positioned for delivering
  40. AppleTalk connectivity solutions to NEXTSTEP customers."

  42. Partner for NeXT's 68040-based workstations is shipping now; until NEXTSTEP
  43. Release 3.1 begins shipping, the Partner product will include an update of
  44. NeXT's kernel for improved AppleTalk protocol support. Partner for NEXTSTEP
  45. for Intel processors will be available May 25, 1993.  Pricing for Partner
  46. starts at $149.
